When I was a boy, someone gave me an Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 map of the local area. I studied it and saw there was a "moat" in the next village. This I had to see! Unfortunately, by the time I got there, it had been filled in.
It didn't stop me reading maps though and going to look at the interesting things promised. That's how I found most of the stuff on this blog
